The Tapestry of the Net has been formed to increase public awareness of the following:

The recent explosion in the popularity of the internet has caused a great deal of concern on the part of a variety of individuals, including published copyright holders and non-published (except on the internet) copyright holders. It is the intent of the members of this group to honor copyright laws for both "traditionally" published artists and "new-medium" (internet) published artists.

We have no desire to cause lack of funding to artists, writers, composers, etc., due to the availability of their works on the internet. Our intent is to enhance the internet world by providing quality works which will provide education to others covering a wide variety of artists.

We vow to obtain advance written permission to use the works of talented artists. We believe we are not a threat to the copyright holders - rather, our love and support of the work of the artists we promote further sales of their works. "We mean you no harm..."

We will not scan and use images under copyright law without prior written permission, nor will we use any works found on the internet for our internet publishing purposes without following the guidelines and obtaining permission or posting logos with links when required or requested. We expect the same respect in return from visitors on our own sites.

We are individuals, expressing ourselves and giving of ourselves in a medium previously unavailable to most. This new medium has allowed many, many otherwise unknown talents to display their works and obtain some recognition that would otherwise never be gained. We believe the internet is bringing the world together in a way that few believed possible just a short decade ago, and will have a positive impact on our society as a whole.

We believe in freedom of speech. We believe we have the right to voice our opinion, and to hear the opinions of others.

We believe we have rights as individuals. We believe we should not be degraded, humiliated, or strong-armed by any person or entity. We treat others with respect, and we believe we have the right to receive the same respect in return. We believe in humanity.
